The Battle of Dressage by STX France at the Jumping International de Bordeaux has redefined the traditional dressage format by combining elite sporting performance with artistic staging. Unique in France, the event appeals to both equestrian enthusiasts and the general public.
A concept inspired by hip-hop
Launched in 2023 at the Jumping International de Bordeaux, the Battle by STX France draws inspiration from urban dance battles. The concept is simple: top-level riders compete in teams in a lively, festive and resolutely modern atmosphere.
A competition in three rounds
A simple yet spectacular format built around three rounds:
- Trot Round: a team battle combining elegance, precision and choreography.
- Canter Round: a team battle showcasing technical power, accuracy and choreography.
- Grand Prix Movements Final Round: head-to-head duels highlighting technical mastery, bold movement selection and the harmony between horse and rider.
A technical and interactive discipline
An expert dressage jury oversees this unique show, hosted by renowned entertainment personalities such as Chris Marques, dancer, choreographer and actor, alongside well-known comedian Cartman (Nicolas Ciattoni).
Beyond its artistic dimension, the Battle of Dressage is a true sporting competition. Experience the outstanding performances of riders presenting their horses with finesse, precision and relaxation in an energetic, electrifying atmosphere. Audience participation adds another exciting dimension, with spectators' cheers and live votes (via a QR code on their mobile phones) directly influencing the final result. The audience is no longer just watching the show—they become an active part of the competition.
