The Jumping International de Bordeaux joins forces with Fondation des Femmes
Could you introduce your organisation and tell us about its origins?
Fondation des Femmes is France’s leading foundation dedicated to women’s freedom and rights, and to combating the violence they experience. Recognised as a public-interest organisation, it provides financial, legal and practical support, thanks to donations it receives, to high-impact initiatives led by charities and associations throughout France.
Founded in 2016, the Foundation was established in response to a simple observation: across France, organisations play an essential role in supporting women, but often lack the resources needed to meet the scale of the challenges they face. Since its creation, the Foundation has mobilised more than €20 million to support nearly 4,500 projects and help improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of women in practical, tangible ways.
What are the main challenges your organisation is facing today? Why was it important for you to partner with the Jumping International de Bordeaux?
The figures speak for themselves: in France, a woman is killed by her current or former partner every three days; one woman in ten experiences domestic abuse during her
lifetime; and 94% of rape complaints are dismissed without further action. Faced with this reality, frontline organisations that welcome, listen to and protect women are experiencing ever-growing needs, while public funding remains unstable and often insufficient.
For Fondation des Femmes, it is therefore essential to count on broad support from society as a whole, as well as on partners who can help strengthen the work carried out on the ground. Our partnership with the Jumping International de Bordeaux is part of this wider effort. It helps raise awareness of women’s rights among a broad audience and, through the involvement of participants and spectators, contributes to funding concrete initiatives led by the organisations we support.
The Jumping International de Bordeaux will donate part of its ticketing revenue to your foundation. In practical terms, what will this contribution help achieve or make possible?
This contribution will support the Foundation’s overall work in promoting women’s rights and freedom and combating the violence they experience.
Our work is based on several complementary areas of action: supporting frontline organisations, improving access to rights and justice, helping provide safe accommodation for women who are victims of violence, supporting women experiencing financial hardship, and working towards lasting progress in gender equality.
Every contribution therefore enables us to continue and strengthen these initiatives, as close as possible to the needs of women throughout France.
